Late rally by Curlew ends Klickitat’s State run


Curlew took advantage of sixth inning errors to put the second round State 1B softball game out of reach of Klickitat, ending the Vandals’ first appearance at State since 2002. Curlew scored 12 runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 20-13 victory.

The Vandals showed their nerves in the first inning of their opening round game at the State tournament, giving up a home run to the first batter from Wishkah Valley and falling behind 3-0. After that, the game settled into a pitching duel with Valley’s Teagan Louthan striking out 13 Vandals and Klickitat’s Chelci Curtis sitting down 10 batters with strike outs.
