Kathie Thompson

Kathie Lynn Thompson passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.

She was born April 20, 1954 in Richland, Washington. When Kathie was 16 years old, a fainting spell caused by an undiagnosed case of encephalitis resulted in a fall from her horse. This chain of events put her in a coma for six months. The bills were enormous, and the good people of Connell, Washington came to the family’s aid. Kathie’s struggle was always uphill from then on but was a task that she took on with a positive spirit and a cheerful heart.

Kathie touched more people than she could have known. She met with Richard Nixon, received letters of encouragement from Wayne Newton (a fellow horse person), and inspired everyone.

Through all of Kathie’s struggles, those of us that knew her were amazed at the easy smiles and sharp wit that let everyone know that God never gives us more of a load than we can handle.

A world without Kathie will take some getting used to but we know that the sound of her piano playing will greet us at the gates of heaven.

Kathie was preceded in death by her father Gust Thompson. She is survived by her mother Arlys McDonald, her sister and brother-in-law Dawn and Leo Spencer, nieces Trisha May, Chelsea White and nephew Will Spencer.
