James Wright



James O. Wright, age 63, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home near Bickleton, WA.

James was born to Robert and Kathryn (Burns) Wright on February 14, 1949 in Pendleton, OR. James received his education in Pilot Rock, OR. before attending Blue Mountain Community College. In February of 1968, James joined the United States Navy where he served on the ASS Aludra, the USS Neches and the USS Kansas City as a Radio Mechanic until being discharged from his duty in December of 1971. On June 22, 1974 he married Susan Read in Glenwood.

James worked in the farming industry at various locations including working for his uncle Albert in Heppner, OR., Glen Campbell in Hermiston, OR., Dave Childs in Arlington, OR., Linden Farms in Goldendale, WA., Spring Creek Farm in Goldendale, WA., Sundale Orchards in Roosevelt, WA. and for Jim Beeks of Roosevelt, WA. For the past 21 years James was employed as a Supervisor for Allied Waste in Roosevelt, WA.

James enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, camping, playing with his granddaughters, teasing family, friends and co-workers. Jim worked very hard but loved to have fun. He was a volunteer EMT and fire fighter for the Roosevelt and Bickleton Fire Departments for over 20 years, he was also Master of the White Creek Grange for several years and also was a member of the Sundale bowling team.

James is survived by his loving wife, Susan Wright and his sons, Shane and Laura Wright of Ogden, Utah, Joshua and Heather Wright of Pasco, WA. and Kevin Wright of Roseburg, OR. He is also survived by four granddaughters Katie, Alexis, Lilly and Destiny, his brothers Gary and Norma Wright of Cinebar, WA. and Robert Wright of Hermiston, OR.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Wright and brother, Mike Wright.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorials in James memory be made to Bickleton Fire Department.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11 a.m., at the Bickleton High School, in Bickleton, WA.
