Assessor discusses valuation at farmer meeting


Pointing out repeatedly, “I am trying to take care of you and I want to give you the lowest taxes possible,” Klickitat County assessor Darlene Johnson explained the property tax changes implemented this year to a crowd of farmers and farm land owners at the Grange hall in Centerville on Thursday.

Johnson explained the formation of an open spaces committee, which she said she was “largely responsible for,” while admitting that it was one of the items identified by the Department of Revenue through their recent audit of the assessor’s office.
