Switzer wins at Maryhill

TWO-TIME WINNER: Patrick Switzer celebrates at the bottom of the Maryhill Loops course after working his way through four heat races and the final to win the IGSA World Cup event. Switzer also won the event in 2009.

Patrick Switzer edged Zack Maytum at the line in the battle of former Maryhill champions to claim his second win in the International Gravity Sports Association’s World Cup event on Sunday. It was a great finish to a day that had an abundance of exciting finishes and more than enough wrecks in the annual Festival of Speed.

Earlier in the week, Brazilian Douglas Silva set a new course record of 3:05.662, leading race promoter, John Ozman to declare that the Brazilians had unseated the Canadians for dominance of the hill. The previous record of 3:06.424 was set in 2010 by Canadian, Kevin Reimer and Canadians have won three of the previous five cup races at Maryhill. Besides Silva four oth...
