25 Years ago- July 9, 1987

• The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) operates the only two lookouts in S. W. Washington; one on Lorena Butte immediately outside of Goldendale, the other on Greyback Mountain just east of the Glenwood Valley across from the snow-capped Mt. Adams. The lookouts, Cathy Marshall at Lorena Butte, and Lori Lorenz at Greyback, are stationary five days with two days off. They both scan for fire and smoke during weekends.
