Student at Klickitat killed in pedestrian, car accident


An 18-year-old student at Klickitat High School was killed on Sunday night when he was struck by a car while walking on the road just south of town.

According to the State Patrol, Macklen L. Drew was walking into town on SR142 at 10:46 p.m. when he was struck by a 2010 Toyota Yaris driven by Michael S. Watkins, 50, of Klickitat. The car sustained $5,000 in damages and was towed to impound at Joe’s Towing in Goldendale.

Watkins was administered standard tests by the State Patrol when investigating fatalities. According to Trooper Watkins blew 0.0 on the alcohol test and was clean of all other drugs tested by drug specialists. The accident is still being investigated.
