Let’s all work hard to keep working hard at cliches



One could make a case for not voting for any candidate in the coming election who uses trite platitudes in their campaign rhetoric. The challenge would be finding one who doesn’t.

It’s as if they all had some big secret meeting and agreed that they’d at least make one level playing field among them all, and that would be to use clichés. They must have also all agreed that voters are linguistic slackers who don’t want to be pandered to with anything resembling originality in their phraseology. Keep it safe, the reasoning goes; keep it dumbed down.
