Child struck by car escapes serious injury


An 11-year-old boy was struck by a car Saturday afternoon in Goldendale when he rode his bicycle through a stop sign. He sustained no major injuries as the driver of the vehicle hit the brakes hard when she saw the child in the intersection.

Goldendale police report that the boy was riding northbound on Grant Street when he ran the stop sign at Darland. The accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. The boy was wearing a helmet; he was knocked down and suffered some scrapes.

The driver of the car got out and checked on the boy. She then left the scene briefly in order to get the registered owner of the car and bring that person with her to the scene; she returned about five minutes later.
