Rep. Herrera Beutler to speak in city in strange election season


Yesterday was the earliest primary election day in memory—and maybe because of this state’s relatively recent switch to by-mail voting, some feel the term “election day” is a misnomer. It’s actually a postmark-deadline day.

Exactly how many of Washington’s 3.7 million registered voters returned ballots is still being determined, but participation is expected to be low. Early voting trends point to a participation rate lower than the 46 percent predicted by the Washington Secretary of State’s Office.
