Even in high emotions, there can always be a step forward



Emotions were running high at Monday’s city council meeting, on both sides. In the end, though,civility prevailed and agreements, at least for next steps, were reached.

Tom Ireland of the Chamber of Commerce felt he and the Chamber had been slighted by Mayor Clint Baze in a recent meeting (see our story on page 1). Baze felt the Chamber wasn’t doing its job well enough and had no problem saying so. Even after the meeting, the mayor was attempting to rally his constituency behind him, putting messages on Facebook that people should recognize “what I’m up against.” He made the point during the city council meeting that he felt voters who put him in office expected him to make sign...
