Contractor causes 9/11 power outage

A contractor was doing a bore under Columbus Avenue at the Railroad Avenue intersection on Tuesday, Sept 11, when the boring apparatus punctured through a conduit that contains the main underground feeder for south Goldendale. This caused an outage at approximately 10:15 a.m., and affected 890 customers.

The portion of wire that was hit was isolated and the circuit was energized approximately 45 minutes later, which restored power to all but 10 customers.

The conduit was repaired, new wire was pulled in and the final 10 customers were energized approximately four hours later.
