Pirates and Vandals give Yakama Tribal rude welcome to volleyball

Bickleton got off to a good start in league play, winning their opening match for their new coach, Katie Leuthauser, 3-0 over Yakama Tribal. With Tribal getting into volleyball for the first time in a long time, their learning curve will be steep. Bickleton took advantage of the inexperience in the first game with plenty of aces and a booming line-drive serve from Amanda McBride that was almost too much for the Eagles to handle. The first set ended 25-10.

Leuthauser got her entire team into the match for the final two games, including freshmen and eighth graders. At one point in the second match, with hitter Lindsay Brown and setter Haley Goodnight on the bench, Tribal enjoyed a 19-14 lea...
