A year’s salary for some goes toward a community center



The city of Goldendale is putting $24,000 into studying whether or not and how a community center could work in town. That’s a year’s salary or more for some people, just to see if an idea could work. But the expense isn’t necessarily to be begrudged. On this scale of things, that’s what it costs to be sure something is done properly on a municipal level. The cost of moving ahead without doing a feasibility study could be a lot higher.

The greater concern is taking advantage of the momentum. Monday night the city council was asked if this expenditure meant the city is really serious about a community center. The answer was yes.
