Wolf photo a reminder of the past



WOLF?: The photo above is from a post card that is believed to show a man with a wolf he shot in Klickitat County around 1907-08.

The card at right was obtained by former Goldendale resident Michael West, from Arizona. West was in Goldendale to visit his mother Josephine West when he saw the request for hunting photos by The Sentinel. West is a collector of old pictures from Klickitat County’s past, which he pairs with modern pictures taken at the same location. West purchased the card on Ebay. It was one of several that were for sale, says West. Back in the day, it was common for people to use postcard stock to print their pictures on for mailing. The back of the post card, dated March 18, 1908 is addressed to “Miss Pearl Abson, Walkerville, Michigan.” The card is signed “your uncle John.” The text of the...
