Bernice Thiele

Obituary

Bernice Janice Thiele passed away in Goldendale on October 7, 2012 at the age of 78. She was born in Coleharbor, North Dakota on July 7, 1934 to Christine (Mertz) and Peter Beierle. On October 23, 1963 Bernice married Dale Thiele at the Lutheran Church in Klickitat.

Bernice and Dale were partners in the family farm and ranch where she cut all the hay, baled and changed the irrigation until 2006 when she turned her jobs over to her grandsons. If you were going to work on the Thiele ranch you needed to be able to keep up with Bernice. Bernice traveled over 4000 miles this summer following after her grandkids, going to the college rodeo finals in Casper, Wyoming with Mason, Silver State high school rodeo finals with Kacie and Charley and rapping it up watching Dale, all her kids and grandkids compete at the Klickitat County Fair winning many events and watching the grandkids show their Market animals.

She was a member of the Klickitat County Cattlewomen’s Association, Neighbors of Woodcraft and Klickitat County Fair. Mrs. Thiele liked team roping, branding at the fair, playing cards, traveling and playing washer boards, but received the most joy out of following her grandkids’ sports and rodeos. Nothing gave her more pleasure than seeing her grandkids win one more buckle or saddle for a job well done.

Survivors include her husband, Dale, of Goldendale; children and their spouses Mike and Lisa Thiele of Goldendale, Kristin and Jay Chambers of Goldendale and Toni and Bill Troh of Glenwood; brother Herb Beierle of Yakima; and grandchildren Kane and Charley Thiele, Mason and Kacie Chambers, and Colton and Kinley Troh.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jim, sisters Gladys and Donna and granddaughter Amanda Chambers.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 13 at the Centerville School. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
