James Henry Miller

Jan. 1, 1916 - Oct. 1, 2012

James Miller was born Jan. 1, 1916 in Goldendale, Washington to Thomas and Winnie Miller. At the age of three his family moved to the Roosevelt area to farm, raise cattle and raise and break horses. James attended Dot School and then went to Roosevelt where he graduated in 1934.

On Dec. 2, 1939 he married Beatrice Schuster of Pleasant Valley. One of James’ favorite recreations was on weekends when friends would bring their horses over and the men and kids all played “rodeo” in the arena that James built on the ranch north of Roosevelt.

James was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Miller, Doris Reimer and Velma Bartmess, and one brother Ray. James is survived by Bea, his wife of 72 years, and a large quantity of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and godchildren.

Bea said she could always spot James in a crowd because he always wore a western hat. James will be remembered for just being his own person and offering a helping hand to anyone in need.

A funeral service was held at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 9.
