Kenneth Johnston



Kenneth Verren Johnston, 77, passed away at his home in Goldendale October 1, 2012. He was born April 28, 1935 in White Salmon, Washington to Orpha (Willis) and Verren Johnston.

Mr. Johnston served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne Division from 1953-1957. He went on to work on the development of nuclear defense in New Mexico and returned to Washington to assist in the development of new technologies for space travel for NASA where he received many awards for his service. Mr. Johnston came back to retire in Klickitat County with his wife in 1998.

Mr. Johnston loved history, politics, sports and fishing. He will be missed by his wife Sharron of Goldendale; daughters Lesia Wallis of Monroe, Washington and Lori Lynn Hoctor of Goldendale; grandchildren Madeline Wallis of Goldendale and Heather, Austin and Connor Wallis all of Monroe.

Private services were held On Saturday at the family’s home. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled the cremation arrangements and TJ Wilder with Bible Baptist Church delivered the eulogy.
