Parson named 4-H leader of the year

Martha Parson has been selected as the 2012 4-H Leader of the year. She is an outstanding and dedicated leader and volunteer. She has organized 4-H camps, clinics, and youth events as well as given individual help to numerous 4-H members. Martha is dedicated to attending leadership meetings whenever possible.

Martha takes on real challenges. This past year, she organized the spring horse clinic including preparing meals without running water, or heat; miniature horse clinics and the summer horse clinic. She is also available on limited notice to help a 4-H member with a problem on their project.

This past year she has given assistance to members struggling with their horse/mini horse driving. She also has a 4-H club of her own that includes goats, other animals and small engines.

Martha has been a 4-H leader for 12 years, is the current secretary for the Klickitat County 4-H Leader’s Council and an active member of the Horse Leader’s Committee. Currently she is working on putting together a clinic with an outstanding horse judge to help 4-H members get an opportunity for knowledge and skills in their horse project. She never lets an opportunity slip by; she is a leader, worker, organizer and supporter.

Martha will be honored at the 2012 Washington State 4-H Leader’s Forum on Friday, Oct. 19, in SeaTac, and will have the opportunity to attend workshops and other events there.
