City takes new approach to event promos


A new contract with the Greater Goldendale Area Chamber of Commerce was the only agenda item at the Goldendale City Council meeting, Monday. The contract was unanimously approved, cementing an agreement to pay the Chamber $12,500 for the 2013 fiscal year, much less than the $35,000 contracted last year. The new contract provides funds for operation of the Chamber’s tourist information center and does not include money for specific events. City manager Larry Bellamy explained that the Chamber still intends on sponsoring and promoting the Home and Garden Show, Bluegrass Festival and SOVREN Maryhill Loops event.
