Wolves into playoffs for seventh straight year with win over Granger

Goldendale travels to Royal for sixth time in seven years

MR. GOOD HANDS: Devan McGraw had a monster game at Granger, making several spectacular grabs in the midst of tight coverage by the Spartans. The Goldendale junior (number 25, above), caught five passes for 144 yards.

After a six-year stretch of making it into the SCAC cross-over playoffs and trips to the State 1A football playoffs, Goldendale found itself heading to Granger last Friday with their streak on the line. It proved to be a mismatch as Goldendale’s balanced attack produced touchdowns on all five first half possessions and the Timberwolves won 47-21.

Granger showed off their running game on the opening drive of the game with Trevor Heitzman proving to be hard to tackle on outside runs. The Spartan back would rush for more than 200 yards in the game. The Spartans marched to the Goldendale 26-yard line, but an ill-advised pass over the middle was picked off by Chris Trunkey at the 15-yard lin...
