Public asked for input on Brooks Park treatment


The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission announces a public meeting to discuss forest health issues at Brooks Memorial State Park and to seek public comment on proposed treatments to specific areas of the park.

In September, 2011, a portion of the park was impacted by a wildfire. Part of the burned area is scheduled for a salvage harvest. Additionally, as a result of historic wildfire suppression efforts, unburned areas of the park tend to support moderate to high levels of wildfire fuels and inter-tree competition.
