Steven Betten



Steven Donald Betten, age 67, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at home near Roosevelt, Washington.

Steve was born to Guy and Betty (Johnson) Betten on June 28, 1945, in Cadillac, MI. He proudly served in the United States Army, 1963-1970 until honorably discharged due to injury. Steve served tours in Vietnam and Korea in addition to two years stationed in Germany. He received numerous commendations and honors including the Bronze Star Medal. He was also proud to serve his community as a volunteer EMT and firefighter for the Roosevelt fire department.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Dora Betten; son Steve (Kim) Betten and daughter Paula (Camilo) Lins. Also by grandchildren Jake, Isaac, Chloe, Forrest, Andreza and Jensyn. In addition to immediate family, he is survived by a large extended family and his adult stepchildren: Robert, Tim, Jacob, Debbie and Nancy plus 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren shared with Dora.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children, Gladys (Powell) Betten, sisters, Peggy and Patty and brother, Eddie.

The family asks, in lieu of flowers, that memorials in Steve’s honor be made to the Roosevelt Fire District.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Goldendale Bible Baptist Church (1005 S. Columbus, the old bowling alley). There will be a time of gathering and a meal following the service.
