Federal organic initiative funding now available


The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced that funding is available for the Organic Initiative in Washington State. This Initiative is an opportunity for organic and transitioning organic farmers to get financial assistance to implement conservation practices that are consistent with organic production.

While applications are accepted on a continuous basis, the cutoff date for this application period is Dec. 21.

According to the NRCS, there will be a second signup cutoff set for Feb. 15, 2013, if additional funding becomes available.
