Win at Bickleton keeps Cougars undefeated

Lyle-Wishram eked out a small shooting advantage during the middle half of their game at Bickleton, Saturday and held on to win their league opener 63-54. The fast-paced game had its ebbs and flows with different players stepping to the forefront.

Bickleton’s Mitch Powers made the Cougars pay for leaving him alone in the corner during the first quarter, hitting 3-4 three-point shots that helped the Pirates overcome 12 first quarter turnovers for a 14-14 tie.

The Cougar defense limited Powers to one three in the second quarter as Justin Mills and Darnell Luke took their turns, each hitting a pair of threes to give Lyle-Wishram a six point margin, 38-32 at the half. Justin Roberts carried...
