1955—Decca Records releases “See You Later Alligator” by Bill Haley and the Comets. 1956—Fidel Castro suffers his own Bay of Pigs after attempting a secret landing to overthrow Cuba’s Batista regime. All but 11 of his supporters are killed. 1991—The USSR Parliament votes their country out of existence. Born: Actor Richard Widmark (1914). Died: Gonzaga, Italian monarch of Mantua/Monferrato (1627).
