Call pins two for Timberwolves, Bell wins three for White Salmon in Goldendale meet

INTENSITY: Faces reflect the intensity involved in trying to pin your opponent to the mat. Goldendale’s Jesse Call works on Columbia-White Salmon’s Marcos Benitz. Call got the pin in the second round of the match.

Columbia High School’s Nathan Bell was the wrestler of the match with a 3-0 record in a three-way match with Toppenish, Columbia-White Salmon and Goldendale in Goldendale on Thursday. Goldendale’s Jesse Call and seven other wrestlers were undefeated with 2-0 records in the unscored match ahead of the Christmas break.

While Bell made the best out of three matches, the only wrestler hitting the mat three times, the finale was arguably the most exciting match of the night. Goldendale’s Mark Briggs and Toppenish’s Demonte Maltos tangled at 152 pounds. For two rounds, the wrestlers piled up points, putting each other in jeopardy of a pin.
