Cougars suffer first loss at Battle Ground

Big, fast and athletic is how coach Scott Myers described the Columbia Adventist team that handed the Lyle-Wishram Cougars their first loss of the year, 58-42. The defeat came on the road at Battle Ground in a game Myers described as physical.

“Both teams were physical and the referees let them play,” said Myers. Adventist disrupted the normally deadly three-point game of the Cougars and an icy cold 35 percent from the free throw line didn’t help the Cougar cause. The Cougars got behind in the second quarter, but stayed within striking distance through the third. Efforts to close the gap failed and the Kodiaks ran away with the win.
