Lady Cougars clip wings of Eagles to go 3-1 in league

PAIR OF TENS: Marissa Lacock looks to pass for Lyle-Wishram against Columbia Adventist’s Sam MacLachlan. Lacock scored four points and had seven rebounds for the Cougars in the non-league win.

Lyle-Wishram’s girls eked out an important victory on Friday, 47-46 over Yakama Tribal’s Lady Eagles. Lacy Carse scored 16 points and Suzanne McConville had 11 for the Cougars who led by nine points at the half.

The Eagles’ Lynndel Wapsheli led the second half charge with her game high 20 points. Mandy Solomon was a rock inside with 13 rebounds for Lyle-Wishram as they withstood the Eagles’ frantic come-back.

The win locked Lyle-Wishram into sole possession of second place in the league with a 3-0 record. But, their unblemished record was soon sullied on a trip to Sunnyside Christian the following night, where they were beaten 83-23. The high-powered and undefeated Knights put the...
