Gravelles welcome new granddaughter

Brynn Matsen, wife of Steve Matsen of Crider Valley Road passed away on Friday, Jan. 18. Memorial services will be Feb. 9, in Bickleton.

Dick Rinta passed away Jan. 9, 2013 at Yacolt. He attended school in Kelso and Winlock and was a member of the U.S. Marines. He graduated from WSU with a degree in Dairy Science. They had a good sized herd of Jersey cows. Several of his registered Jerseys made national milk production records. He delivered milk in glass bottles in north Clark County for many years. Dick never missed a milking in 14 years. Dick and Carolyn moved to Six Prong in eastern Klickitat County in the late 1970s where they raised alfalfa hay and grain. In 2003, they retired to Toledo and then later to their old stomping grounds in Yacolt. Dick is survived by wife Carolyn, children Kathleen Rinta, sons John (Debbie) Rinta and Will (Diana) Rinta all of Yacolt. There are seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a brother, Arnold (Phyllis) Rinta of Woodinville, sisters, Marilyn (Dan) Rose of Marysville, and Judy (Howard) Heflin of Woodinville, sister-in-law June Rinta of Chehalis. He was preceded in death by parents Ruth Uhri and Arvo Rinta, brother, Hugh and a nephew, Rod Rinta of Chehalis. Dick requested no services. His ashes will be scattered on the Yacolt farm.

Jan. 24, at 6:30 p.m., the Market Street Cafe will host the first quarterly meeting of the year for the Community Council. The tentative agenda is a brief water update, election of officers and committee reports.

Sue and Charlie Gravelle traveled to Portland to meet their new granddaughter Syah Grace. She was born Jan. 18, to Spencer and Angela. Congratulations to the new parents and the new grandparents. Charlie and Sue Gravelle have moved into Freda Power’s house on the main drag.

Tony and Heidi McDonald of Warrenton, Ore., have moved into the downstairs apartment in the old Flower House. They have a daughter, Bailey, who is a sophomore in high school. Tony works for one of the wind farms in this area. Heidi will spend Fridays working at Deb’s Hair Care Salon doing acrylic manicures, facial waxing, pedicures and hair color.
