City starts over on rentals ordinance

OVERFLOW CROWD: It was standing room only at the Goldendale City Council meeting Jan. 22, as interested parties listened to discussion on an ordinance related to residential rental licensing and fees.

The Goldendale city council meeting last Tuesday had standing room only as many landlords of Goldendale came out to protest the recent proposed city ordinance that would establish a rental property license and inspection certification fee.

“I believe that this is being done with a genuine desire to help people, and I appreciate that,” says David Telford, a broker with Klickitat Valley Realty that manages or owns almost 150 rental units in and around Goldendale.
