TLG stays alive with key win at Bickleton

CLUTCH PLAY: Tamaira Huffsmith (22) played a key role in TLG’s win over Bickleton on the Pirates’ home court.

Bickleton could have made their lives much simpler had they beaten TLG girls in Bickleton on Saturday, but instead, TLG came away with a new lease on life after a surprising 48-36 win.

Earlier in the year, Bickleton had a 12 point victory over the Mustang-Eagles in Trout Lake. If they could reproduce that win on their home court, they would have locked up the fourth place spot in the District playoffs. Instead, the loss left each team with a game to play against Yakama Tribal.

Bickleton played the Eagles on Monday in Toppenish, hoping to finally secure the playoff spot. But, the make-up game didn’t go the Pirates way as they lost 55-40. In spite of a double-digit night for Jamie Venema...
