GSD budget shortfall means staff reductions


The Goldendale School District (GSD) has a budget shortfall due to a lower number of student enrolled than expected, said GSD superintendent Marc Heid at the February 11 Goldendale Way meeting held at the high school cafeteria. Because of the shortfall in funding, a minimum of two and up to five full-time equivalent staff (FTEs) positions may be cut.

Under the Washington State budget building formula which asks all school districts to provide best estimates of their student head count to estimate operating costs to the school and reimbursements coming in from the State, GSD has found itself in the red.
