CWU’s Venema wins hurdles at GNAC indoor championships



HURDLE CHAMP: Andrew Venema won the GNAC 60 meter hurdle title last Saturday at Nampa.

Andrew Venema, a 2009 Bickleton graduate, won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) 60 meter hurdles championship in Nampa on Saturday. Venema, a student at Central Washington University ran the hurdles in 8.29 seconds, just .03 seconds off the GNAC record. He also had a personal best 6-3.25 in the high jump, good enough for seventh place. Venema, a decathlete, competes at the University of Washington this weekend, hoping to qualify for the national indoor track and field championships.
