To the Editor:

This year marks 50 years since the completion of the 566 Twin Buttes water shed protection project in Goldendale—I was the project engineer. I am happy for my success; it helped me in my long engineering career.

In 1973 after retirement from SCS-USDA, I wrote a land drainage manual promoting perforated corrugated plastic drainage tubing and helped bring about a land drainage revolution after 2,000 years of tiling. This was my greatest career achievement and my gift to agriculture.

Now I am 95 years old and in assisted living with a slight disability, due to being a poor swallower. I still keep up with engineering developments and hope to bring a wild idea to fruition. I a...
