Cougar shot after killing donkey


An adult cougar was shot about four miles west of Goldendale, off Olson Road near Blockhouse Creek, after killing a donkey on an acreage. State Fish and Wildlife officer Dan Bolton received a call on Feb. 27 asking him to check out a fresh kill that was discovered by a man while hunting coyotes on the property. Bolton arrived at the scene and found a dead donkey that exhibited signs of a cougar kill. The animal was buried beneath pine needles and had puncture marks in the neck that allowed Bolton to confirm it was likely killed by a cougar.
