Sheriff says action needed to meet new budget cut

Personnel action likely; commissioner says cut reflects department move


Klickitat County Sheriff Rick McComas confirmed in a March 5 telephone conversation with The Sentinel that some type of personnel action will need to take place within his program at the county’s fiscal mid-point in June.

The yet-undefined action is necessary, said McComas, in order to conform to the Klickitat County Commissioners’ request that he reduce his 2013 departmental budget by $100,000.

What type of personnel action is taken remains to be seen, the sheriff said. According to McComas, the actions would be either another reduction of hours, similar to the one which took place in fall 2012, which triggered a two-part complaint filed by six Klickitat County Sheriff Department de...
