Bickleton hears beef benefits



WHERE’S THE BEEF?: Students at the Bickleton School listen to a presentation on the many benefits of beef at Ag Day March 20.

Klickitat County Cattlemen and Cattlewomen had an assembly for students at the Bickleton School in honor of Agriculture Week, March 20.

Jane Lee, rancher from Goldendale, presented facts on the nutritional value of beef in a healthy diet, including that beef provides “ZIP” (zinc, iron, and protein) and is one of the best sources of B vitamins.

Nancy Sizemore, rancher from Centerville, brought “Molly the cow” to demonstrate to the students all the animal by-products that come from a beef animal. Students were chosen to come up and select a product from Molly’s inside pockets. They were amazed at the different variety of by-products, such as crayons, gelatin, soaps, make-up, and o...
