Cougars finish strong for win at Dufur, earn split with Rangers

A BASE TOO FAR: A Dufur runner is gunned down by Lyle-Wishram’s left fielder Cody Carse. The Ranger tried to go from first to third on a single. Jacob Armour (3) applied the tap with Ricky Wolff backing up the play.

Lyle-Wishram split with Dufur on Saturday, winning the opener 9-7 and dropping the second game 10-0 in five innings.

The Cougars tied the game in the second inning on a two-run home-run by Travis Armour. Justin Mills scored on the blast after opening the inning with a single. Dufur took the lead back in the bottom of the inning but Armour came through with a two-run double in the third inning. Ricky Wolff relieved Jonathan Von Ahn in the fourth inning and took a 4-3 lead into the fifth inning.

The Cougars scored a pair of runs again with Jacob Armour singling and stealing second. Cody Carse was hit by a pitch and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Mills singled in Armour and Carse sco...
