Shooting sports explode in Klickitat County, 19 4-Hers qualify for State shoot

Last weekend was a big event for Klickitat County’s 4-H shooting sports program as county championships were decided in three disciplines of shooting. What really made the event big was the number of participants, particularly in archery, where the enrollment has exploded.

There were six members two years ago and what seemed like a good number with 11 in last year’s contest. This year there were two 4-Hers in shotgun, five in air rifle and a staggering 38 in archery. The archery contest which includes shooting a total of 54 arrows at three different stations, ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
