Dog cruelty case concludes with plea deal


Local resident Eric David Calvin made an appearance in Klickitat County Superior Court on Monday, April 15, in response to eight charges of Animal Cruelty, two charges in the first degree and six in the second degree.

The charges stemmed from the rescue of 106 Shar Pei dogs from his residence during evacuation and rescue efforts resulting from the Monastery Complex Fire of mid-September 2011.

Calvin left the courthouse following his 9:30 a.m. appearance in front of Judge Bryan P. Altman, with all but one charge, a first degree Animal Cruelty charge, dropped in exchange for a guilty plea, which nets Calvin a Class C Felony.
