Timberwolf golfers finish strong for win in Pendleton


The back nine were key to Goldendale’s win over Heppner as the boys’ golf team eked out a 358 to 359 win in Pendleton, Friday. The Timberwolves were a stroke behind Heppner at the halfway point, 180 to 181. Three of Heppner’s scoring golfers had pretty consistent rounds, front and back, dropping six strokes on the back nine between the three. But their fourth member, Austin Gutierrez killed the back nine with a one-over par 37, a nine-stroke improvement that threatened to close out Goldendale.
