Farmers' Market set to reopen on Mother's Day weekend

THE MARKET RETURNS: Asa Israel handles the Goldendale Farmers Market consignment booth last year in Ekone Park. The market opens for 2013 on Saturday. Folks who want to sell but who don’t have enough time or product to operate a full booth are invited to bring goods to the consignment booth. If volunteers sell product, the market will keep a 20 percent cut and turn the rest over to the producer. Call (509) 439-0840 for more information.

The Goldendale Farmers Market 2013 begins on Saturday, May 11, with an array of spring products and spring attitudes in Ekone Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Opening on the day before Mother’s Day, the market will feature an array of gifts for mom, including a free flower for each mom who attends.

There will be at least 15 vendors, most likely a record for this early in the growing season. Singer-songwriter Ross Kauffman will perform during the session.

Expect to see greens, vegetable and flower starts, lamb, bread, cinnamon rolls, jewelry, arts, and crafts. Of course, the agricultural vendors will increase as the growing season progres...
