Cougars and Vandals split in lead up to Regionals

Klickitat and Lyle-Wishram softball teams split a double-header played in Dallesport last week, giving the Vandals a 3-1 season edge.

The Cougars overcame eight errors in the first game, thanks to a five-run sixth inning, to win 7-5. Lyle-Wishram scored behind the hitting of Mercedes Beck, who went 3-3 with two RBi and Holly Doolin who doubled and drove a run in and Maelynn Luke who tripled for an RBI. Lara Parsons tripled and Chelci Curtis and Nicole Oldfield doubled for Klickitat.

Game two was a deflating roller coaster ride for Lyle-Wishram as they jumped out to a 13-1 lead after two innings, only to see it melt away in a game filled with hits and errors. Klickitat committed 10 errors...
