CRP sign-up announce for coming month


An opportunity is approaching for Klickitat County farmers and ranchers to help preserve fragile agricultural land and improve wildlife habitat. From May 20 through June 14, 2013, the Farm Service Agency will be accepting offers for general Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Producers enrolling cropland into CRP plant long-term vegetative covers to improve water quality or reduce soil erosion, and to develop wildlife habitat. In return for removing these lands from production, FSA provides rental payments and assists with the cost of establishing vegetative covers.
