ROAD WORK: WSDOT crews are still working on two sections of Highway 97, anticipated to continue through June.

The work on the U.S. 97 both north- and south-bound near Goldendale has resumed, and with it comes some delays for travelers. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is near completion on two extensive projects on U.S. 97, over Butler Creek just outside of Goldendale and a second, more involved project at Satus Bridge near Toppenish.

According to Abbi Russell, WSDOT Communications manager, both the $2.9 million Butler Bridge and the Satus Bridge projects are funded by federal and state gas taxes.

The Butler Project involves replacing a small culvert which allowed the creek to flow beneath the old bridge, with a larger culvert and drain and adding a wildlife crossing.
