Volunteers work on building renovation

LIGHTENING THE LOAD: Volunteers from the Jehovah’s Witnesses swarm over the Goldendale meeting hall Friday. The volunteers include highly skilled construction workers who are doing an almost complete renovation of the building.

A Goldendale church is the beneficiary of extraordinary generosity of spirit and expertise. One of the world’s largest construction companies—metaphorically speaking—is completing a major renovation project here, using almost all unpaid volunteers.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses Hall on Nesbitt Street is being made over almost completely, and the work is being done by hundreds of volunteers from the church’s eastern Washington region. A great many of those volunteers are highly skilled construction professionals, some contractors with their own businesses.
