Larry Pieper



Larry William Pieper Sr.

Born Jan. 29, 1939, to William Hennig Pieper and Florence Mabel Whitcher in Fayette County Iowa.

He served as a tail gunner in the Navel Air Corps and was stationed in Hawaii.

Larry married Darlene Ramsdell April 20, 1958, in Hollister, Calif. They were married for more than 40 years and had six children; Connie (Pete Jackson) Amboy, WA., Catherine (Blake Brooksby) Las Vegas, NV, Carol (Jeff Strode) Winlock, Wash., Candy Jones (deceased), Larry Jr. Vancouver, WA., Charlene (Chris Clemens) Norfolk, NE. They also had several grand and great- grandchildren.

Larry worked in the logging industry as a timber faller and was a member of the Laborer’s union local 335 for more than 25 years.

In 1991, he met Terry Durgan and moved to Goldendale. They were married April 12, 2008, and he acquired four step sons; Tony Birkeland (Kelly),James Birkeland (Heidi), John Birkeland (Cathy), Frank Riley, and several more grand and great-grand children.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved classic cars and always had a project.

Larry passed away Nov. 15 2012 after an extended illness.

There will be a “celebration” of his life Sunday, May 26 at the American Legion in Goldendale, at 1 p.m.
