Pearl Warner

Flossie Pearl Warner died May 6, 2013, at the age of 96, at Klickitat Valley Hospital in Goldendale, WA.

Pearl was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma, to Charles Edgar and Hattie Foster. Pearl had two brothers and seven sisters.

Pearl grew up on her parents’ farm near Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. At the age of 21, she married Claude Henry Warner, in Oklahoma. Her husband, Claude, died in 1980, in Marysville, Calif., at the Ride Out Hospital.

The story of her life, after marrying Claude, could have been taken from the pages of, “The Grapes of Wrath,” by John Steinbeck. They moved to California with other family members in search of work. This was in the time of the Dust Bowl in the mid-west. The family became migrant farm laborers, following the harvest from California to Washington each year. Pearl lived in the Goldendale area since 1990, for the last eight years she was taken care of by her daughter, Rita Campo.

She loved to spoil children. She never met a stranger. Pearl would offer food and shelter to anyone who needed it. She loved her family and they loved her. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Pearl and Claude had eight children; five daughters and three sons.

Pearl is preceded in death by two daughters, LaVada Ziegler, of Longview, and Lorene Saling, of Goldendale, and one son, Albert Warner, of Goldendale.

Survivors include a sister, Birdie McCall of Oroville, Calif .; three daughters, Joyce Mosley, Rita Campo and Sherry DeVaul, all of Goldendale; one daughter-in-law, Violet Saling, of Goldendale; two sons, Larry Warner and wife Kathy, of Goldendale, and Keith Warner, of Yakima; 41 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 74 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandson.

Services will be held Sunday, May 19, at 4 p.m. at Father’s House Fellowship Church, 207 S. Klickitat, in Goldendale. A potluck lunch will follow at the church.
