Dakota McAndie fought his way through a tough District tournament to qualify for the State combined 1A, 2B, 1B tennis tournament, which begins this Friday in Yakima. The Goldendale junior is the only Timberwolf to advance and will face Charles Wright’s Austin Kelley. It is a double elimination tournament, but McAndie will need to win his first three matches to have a shot at first or second place.

McAndie reached State by winning his opening match at District in Burbank on Friday, by a 6-2, 6-4 score. He lost 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals and beat Lucas Thorn, of Wahluke 6-1, 6-1. In the battle for seeding, McAndie took third place by beating Kyle Rasmussen, of Highland 6-0, 2-6, 6-2.
